Another WTC Construction Accident
In the latest of a series of construction accidents at the World Trade Center, another construction worker has been sent to the hospital. According to DNAinfo.com, the accident happened at 3 World Trade Center last Friday and resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.
DNAinfo.com reports:
At 1:54 p.m. on Friday, FDNY received word of the accident at the incomplete 3 World Trade Center and EMTs were dispatched to Church Street and Cortlandt Street.
One construction worker was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the FDNY said.
The worker was an ironworker with Falcon Steel Company who was helping prepare a load of steel at ground level, according to Tishman Construction spokesman John Gallagher. He was injured when a beam rolled over him as he was rigging it to be lifted, Gallagher said.
This marks the seventh construction accident at the World Trade Center in four months.
In February, a crane dropped steel beams 40 stories. In April, an ironworker was saved by his harness when he fell five feet from a scaffold and cut his head. Another construction worker fell from a scaffold in May, and plywood fell on top of him. On June 12, a fire broke out at 4 World Trade Center.
And at the end of June, consecutive accidents struck at 4 World Trade Center. On June 26, a construction worker was impaled on a metal rod, and on June 27, a crane carrying beams crashed into the side of the building and shattered windows near the top of the building.
Steel beams and heavy equipment are the source of many construction site accidents. This equipment can cause serious crushing injuries and even death. Fortunately, when you are hurt on the job in an accident like this, we may be able to help.
