Fourteen Construction Workers Injured After Elevator Drops
Last week, a group of construction workers entered a freight elevator in a building in Chelsea. What happened next typically only occurs on amusement park rides.
The elevator car plummeted, dropping the workers from the fourth floor of the building. One of the men, Paul Giampiccolo, said, “Ever go to Great Adventure? This is almost the same thing,” he said, according to news reports.
But, no one enjoyed this ride. Fourteen of the men were hospitalized with minor back and ankle injuries. According to some of the workers, this same elevator has had problems in the past.
